Lustau Red Vermouth
Lastau red vermouth is the perfect accompaniment to any aperitif. There is a particularly interesting balance here. It manages, in a simple way, to drag the best elements of the tradition of the drink in its elaboration and flavour. It works well as an accompaniment to any tapa or aperitif, and has a deep, slightly bitter taste that brings out the main tones of traditional vermouth.
The Lastau brand has sought to modernise the presentation of vermouth without reducing the quality of the product’s flavour one iota. Designed for the world of cocktails, or as an aperitif or after-work drink, its creators have also managed to give it roots, and fuse it with its origins.
Lastau red vermouth stands out for giving an outstanding prominence to the Jerez wine. Since the base for this drink is always one of these wines, or a blend of several.
In the case of red vermouth, there is a mixture between an Amontillado and a Pedro Ximénez. The first one is in charge of adding dryness and a stronger character to the drink. While Pedro Ximénez, as a counterpoint, offers a much sweeter and smoother taste to the palate.
As for the aroma, it tends towards citrus tones, combined with the spicy herbs that have been used. It is also worth noting here the touch of smoked wood that remains in the background.
Aromatic herbs help to encourage this bitterness, as do coriander or wormwood. As well as sage. But it is thanks to the citrus elements that this bitterness does not cut the taste of the drink.
It is served in the classic way: in a glass with ice and orange peel. And, as we already told you, it is designed for the afterwork, to have a snack, accompanied by pickles or tapas.
