Josep Bellod founded Bodegas Bellod in 1943. It is a family company that has been committed to selecting the best wines produced in its wine regions since its foundation. Over time it has been adjusting its packaging and technology to our public consumption habits, becoming a pioneer in introducing the “Bag in Box” system.
More than half a century later, they can still offer their products. Based on years of experience, Bodegas Bellod started a project in the Conca de Barberá area in 2003. The climatic conditions of this area are very favourable for the cultivation of vineyards and produce high quality wines. The quality allows them to elaborate a special wine called “Mas del Nen”.
For more than two generations, they have kept 30 selected plants submerged in clay barrels to produce their most prized product, Luna vermouth, an excellent choice for aperitifs. In it, we can experience a strong and balsamic aroma, the acidity and bitterness are balanced, and the aftertaste is long. It is easy to accompany with appetizers. It is recommended to consume it at a temperature between 6º and 8º. As we have already mentioned, 30 types of herbs, flowers and roots are selected at the right point of ripeness, dried and controlled so that they do not lose their outstanding properties, and then immersed in an alcohol tank for forty-five days to extract all the aromas, flavours and nuances of the qualities of plants, roots and flowers.
The property is located in the middle of nature, between Solivella and Sarral. Its natural conditions, together with its history and tradition, make it a privileged area for the cultivation of vineyards and the production of quality wines and cavas. The typical climate is Mediterranean, with hot, dry summers and mild winters. It is an agricultural area dedicated mainly to the cultivation of vineyards, whose first vines were transported from France by Cistercian monks who came to the abbey of Poblet.
“Vermut de Luna” sums up the effort of three generations to caramelize the essence and age it in oak barrels to give it the characteristic flavour of this very special vermouth. It is a vermouth refined by a special process. Acid and bitter, this vermouth is a liqueur that allows us to drink more after the first tasting, it can be enjoyed with others or alone, its body balance is usually suitable for all tastes.
