This vermouth is an aperitif made with a minimum of 75% wine, hydroalcoholic infusions of herbs and spices, especially Artemisia Absinthium, and sugar. Originally from Asti, in Piedmont, the Perlino brand is a guarantee of authenticity. More than 20 botanicals are used in the recipe. The balance of the mixture and its evolution over time are fundamental.
Nordesia is the vermouth brand of Atlantic Galician Spirits, the Galician company that has been so successful making drinks such as gin and vodka their own. Now it’s the turn of vermouth, and Nordesia is a tribute to the land and the Galician character. The Nordesia has used in its elaboration in the traditional style the autochthonous raw materials that could not be absent, the historical grape albariño for the White, the appreciated mencía – that gives so good wines in Galicia and in the region of El Bierzo – for the Red and, for both, a careful selection of Galician herbs like the laurel, the elder or the salicornia that accompany the indispensable absinthe, the indispensable element in the elaboration of any vermouth.
Juan Luis Méndez Rojo, owner of the winery and vineyards Via Romana, Xoan Torres Cannas, gold nose 2004, co-owner and sommelier of the restaurant Camiño da Serpe (Pepe Vieira), and Pepe Albela, master distiller of Aguardientes de Galicia, are the 3 Galician entrepreneurs who, in its day, elaborated the Galician gin Nordés Gin and shortly after, from a distillate of potato grown in Galicia, launched the vodka market. Now they delight us with these two vermouths elaborated in an artisan way: Nordesia Rojo and Nordesia Blanco.
The first uses albariño grapes grown in the Ulla river valley, with a dry and bitter personality that gives the vermouth a more classic character. In addition, this vermouth has a complex body and a more bitter taste, with certain citric aftertaste accompanied by a certain salinity of Atlantic origin. The second, on the other hand, uses the mencía grapes from the Ribera Sacra as a discordant and special note, offering, unlike the Rojo, sweet nuances, a wide intensity, although not heavy, and less alcoholic presence.
