The hot vermouth, if it is the first time you hear about it, may seem something new to you as it is a very unknown delicacy for many. Far from a new fashion. Hot vermouth descends from its predecessor: mulled wine, which was made as early as the 2nd century BC to warm the Romans.
At that time the difference between wine and vermouth was not great, because when the wine began to taste less appetising, it was macerated with botanicals, spices and natural sugars to enhance its flavour. This Roman custom, to better cope with cold days, soon began to spread throughout Europe. Mulled wine became more and more important in the popular culture of many civilizations. Las Vermudas wanted to take up this way of drinking vermouth by creating their own version. It is a genuine recipe full of soft sweet nuances that arise after macerating a good wine with fruits, botanicals and spices and once hot becomes a real wonder.
How to serve a hot vermouth
Preparing it is very simple. For the purists, we heat it in a saucepan, over low heat, introducing a slice of orange and a cinnamon stick for a few minutes. Remember, it is important, on very, very low heat, so that it does not evaporate. On the other hand, if you are more practical or a bit impatient, it will be enough to heat it for about 60 seconds in the microwave (not so advisable) and serve it in a nice cup.
We recommend decorating it with a slice of orange and a cinnamon stick. And to make it perfect, accompany it with some gingerbread cookies or a homemade sponge cake.
Alcoholic strength: 15%.
Presentation: 75cl bottle
